Four things you need to know about TRANSFORMATION
This week is review week.
If you have been on the 100-day journey with me, we have covered about 10 weeks of content focused on your transformation. That’s about 70 days, leaving us a month or so to finish strong.
Each week you try something new, or at least regard it, as it shows up in our Facebook group or in your e-mail in-box. Some of the techniques worked right away for you. Others felt like old news. And the remainder touched a chord but life pushed it away.
This week we are focusing on where we have been and my request is you choose three strategies to CLAIM as your own. Just choose. Leave the rest, and lean into your best life to make this moment count.
But as you figure out what you want to do, as you feel the resistance and the fear, as you sense the greatness that is truly just around the corner, I’m taking this moment to offer you (surprise) a bit of advice.
-
You’ll have to choose.
You can’t change everything, all at once, all the time. Transformation is exhausting. It takes courage and focus and consistency. So often I wish I had, I would think it was enough to accomplish one small thing. Can you imagine how much we would all get done if we had not loaded up our change train with so much?
-
It’s not so dramatic.
We all have a story. And maybe your story is that you are saving your universe if only you could crack the code of this transformation. You would be rich and share your wealth with everyone. Finally your dad would be proud of you (read: you would be proud of you). You could be different and show everyone- who ever doubted you. It’s all good stuff if it keeps you going, but constant drama in the middle of your transformation will eat you alive. This is simple stuff. The changing leaves in the fall is beautiful, but it’s not dramatic. It’s just the season acting like the season. Why not create beautiful change without all the drama?
-
It takes repetition.
If you are searching for the “transformation switch,” you’ll be looking for a mighty long time. There isn’t one. Real, sustainable change happens in the repetitions. What you are doing is informing your cell structure of a new way to BE. How many times do you have to repeat yourself to a child? How long does it take to learn a new way of doing math or a new concept in literacy? Yep- it takes a while. Do the same courtesy for yourself.
-
It will never end.
You can’t beat your human-ness. Do you get me? You will always look for an easy way out. Candy tastes good. It’s easy to skip a workout. It’s even easier to lose your cool and speak thoughtlessly. It’s natural to be self-absorbed. Don’t look for a finish-line. If you can, stop thinking about it altogether. You will never be released from the responsibility to guard your best life, diligently. It’s best, it’s uncommon, it’s amazing, because not everyone has the moxy to pursue a purpose-driven life.
Here’s my truth, passed on to you:
Turn your relationship with change on it’s head. Stop resenting it. View the OPPORTUNITY for change and transformation as a privilege. Second chances are for the living. Look for places to improve. Give yourself grace. Understand the reality of the work you are doing and enjoy every moment you get to be different.
So, it’s review week. What have you missed? What is really working? Where do you want to go? It’s time to claim your change with a prayer, and gather strength for the next round!
