Monday’s Message: Are you a diamond in the making?
February 27, 2012
The lion’s share of success boils down to persistence with a vision in mind. The moments prior to gratification are filled with hard work and a health measure of faith. Are you ready to be a diamond?
Sticking with your intentions takes some planning and mindfulness:
- Keep your vision in front of you. If you can, boil your REASON for completion down to one sentence and keep it in front of you. When you are feeling tired, when you are feeling on top of the world, feed that message to your brain. Your mind will take it from there.
- Ask for help. When you are struggling, it’s easy to want to hide your troubles from the world. Concealing your challenges might make you feel psychologically safe but it also increases the chances you will stumble in your pursuit of a better life. Instead, let your guard down and talk it out and accept the encouragement you deserve.
- Take one more step. That overwhelmed feeling comes from looking at the big picture. You just know you don’t have the strength or the time to do it ALL. The reality is you can’t do it all anyway. All you can do is ONE THING at a time. Focus on that one step. When you have complete it, focus on the next step.
- Avoid the grand decision. When you are feeling down, you start to think you have to make the BIG DECISION. Are you going to stick with this or not? Do you really have what it takes? Your brain just wants you to quit, to save you from present pain. Take a break and come back to it later. Get some rest, obtain the perspective you need and return to your challenge with renewed strength and energy!
