Vision Board

Vision Board 2013: My theme word is…IGNITE!

There are 26 days left of 2012 and along with the last minute shopping for Christmas day or whatever holiday you celebrate, it is also the moment for another important life activity- creating Vision Board 2013!

Creating a vision board is the process of identifying your deepest dreams and finding images and words that connect with your soul.  Don’t worry; you don’t have to try to dodge and evade the holiday stress and messages to dig deep within the core of you.  The first step is very simple and essential.  You must pick your “word” of the new year.  It’s your theme for your vision board, the positioning for your dreams.  And, if you do it, it will be one of the most important things you do.

My word for 2012 was FREEDOM.  When I told my mom about this word, she became sort of concerned.  “Freedom from what….?” she asked, quizzically concerned that I would leave my husband, move to an unnecessarily exotic locale or something equally crazy.

No mom, nothing like that.  At that moment, I felt I had all the potential in the world, but no lift-off to really fly.  Something was holding me back and I wanted to figure out what it was.  I wanted…FREEDOM from:

  • issues weighing down my friendships.
  • the voice continually asking me “who do you think you are?”
  • financial bad habits.
  • that feeling that I couldn’t move onward and upward
  • being stuck physically- I wanted to spread the love beyond the midwest!
  • anyone or anything holding me back.
  • a focus on weight and fat instead of health and athleticism.

It was a year of Freedom but it didn’t happen all at once.  My relationships went through some dark moments, and I realized I didn’t need to change myself to be accepted.  My television show was featured in Ladies Home Journal.  I spoke in New York City, Chicago, New Jersey and Omaha.  I picked up coaching clients in Philadelphia, California, New York and Minneapolis.  I ignored the indignant and questioning inner voice and created inspirational material for those who needed me and they responded with enthusiasm.  I paid the bills and then had my fun.  I stopped borrowing money.  I created material for those who needed me and stopped wondering whether I dared.  I woke up each morning and checked for the shackles that bound me for 40 years before and they were simply GONE.  I will always remember 2012 as a year of FREEDOM.

Now it’s time to choose my word for 2013.  Understanding the power of the process, it took me some time to figure it out.  FLOW?  BEAUTIFUL?  JOY?  ABUNDANCE?  I wanted a launching pad, a catalyst, a explosion of the awesomeness I experienced in 2012.   It would be a year of cashing in investments, of surfing my potential, purpose and possibilities.

This year my word is IGNITE!

Ignite is a VERB- meaning several things:  a) to cause to burn, b) to set fire to, c) to subject to great heat, especially to make luminous by heat, d) to arouse the passions of- excite, e) to begin to burn, f) to begin to glow.

Wow!  This is my dream; it’s time for the heat, to shine, to be the fire and heat that others can draw from and start their own fires!

In 2013, I will reach more people that I can imagine.  The fireworks will include:

  • More blog posts to reach more people.
  • More coaching clients, those that want to change the world.
  • Thousands of people in audiences, ready to change and reach for the purpose that is there.
  • Financial and “fire” investments.
  • Fearless living, knowing every day could be my last.
  • Openly living with the fire in  my belly-  it was placed there by God.
